  • Shabby/Tired Appearance: Dress like you want to be addressed. Appear in a clean, formal outfit. A shabby appearance will leave hiring managers having second thoughts about you.

 

  • Impolite Greeting: Greeting with no iota of respect or using impolite words will not get you in the interviewer’s good books. Maintain eye contact and use the right words during the interview.

 

  • Appearing without Proper Information About The Employer: This shows you do not care about the organisation. Prior to the interview, there’s a need to get as much info as you can about your employer.

 

  • Paying Little Or No Attention During The Interview: Taking calls, scrolling through social media and paying attention to distractions will irritate the employer. Keep anything that can distract you away from sight.

 

  • Eating or Drinking: You should avoid eating or drinking during the interview. If you would love to, eat or drink till you’re satisfied before the interview. You don’t want to leave the hiring manager wondering if you’re more interested in food than the position. 

 

  • Not Asking Questions: Showing up at the interview without questions gives the impression that you didn’t research the company. To show how interested you are in the employer and job, ask questions.

 

  • Low Enthusiasm During The Interview: If you are not passionate or excited about the job, it will be evident in the way you speak and act. The interviewer can see this and will immediately have reservations about you. Rest well and get yourself as pumped as you can before the interview.

 

  • Speaking Ill of Past Employers: Even if you had a bad experience with employers you’ve worked with in the past, you don’t want to speak Ill of them during the interview. Share only necessary information and leave out the unnecessary.
